They were known as Generacion del 27.ġ928 – Published another poetry collection, Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads). This book helped him gain world wide recollection.ġ929 – Lorca traveled to New York City and studied at Columbia University to take a break from balancing his complicated private life and his life as a successful poet.ġ930 – Spain’s dictatorship of Primo de Rivera fell. ![]() He became part of the influential group of artists that started the movement of surrealism in Spain. ![]() ![]() In the 1920s, Lorca began to experiment with more avant garde style into his work. 1898 – Birth On June 5th 1898, Federico Garcia Lorca was born in a small town in Spain, Fuente Vaqueros to a landowner and a teacher.ġ914 – Lorca attended the University of Granada to study law.ġ916 – Lorca was encouraged to pursue writing during his travels throughout Spain.ġ918 – He published his first book, Impresiones y paisajes (Impressions and Landscapes).ġ919 – Attended the University of Madrid, where he met friends, like painter Salvador Dali and filmmaker, Luis Bunuel.ĭuring his studies in Madrid, Lorca took more interest in writing specifically theater and poems.ġ921 – Lorca published his first book of poems, Libro de poemas, a collection of poems he has written since 1918. ![]()
